Summer 2009

Animal Illustration (Grades: 6-9)

Learn to draw sleek fur, ruffled feathers, smooth fins and scaly skin. Sharpen your drawing skills and create expressive pictures of realistic animals in their natural settings. Using basic tools such as pencils, charcoal and erasers you learn to create a finished look to black and white drawings that make your critters hop, fly and slither off the page. Work intensively as you explore form, contour, texture, shadow, light, balance and expression. Use a computer for research and develop your skills in drawing to scale and transferring images and photographs to your artwork. By the end of the class you have at least one finished illustration that you can be proud to display in a portfolio or on your walls.
