14 hours CE credit: MFT/LCSW; BRN; MCLE
Too often elders are disempowered by the methods used to resolve the difficult issues that aging brings. Mediation is a method of resolving these problems that allows the elder to feel respected and supported. This course addresses the value and use of mediation in dealing with intergenerational disputes, health care decisions, living arrangements, conservatorship/guardianship, workplace discrimination, property management, divorce and remarriage and family businesses. It is designed for all those working with elders, whether as agency staff, health care professionals, attorneys or family members. Participants learn the realities of aging and the special needs of elders. They learn mediation theory and practice skills with a focus on applying these in situations involving elders. CR/NC.
