Create your own cartoon character, then write and draw a sample comic book page or newspaper-style comic strip with a veteran comic book artist! Explore the basics of cartooning including creative layout, effective facial expressions and dynamic figure drawing. Discover the language of comics including basic comic strip story structure, placing text and images and adding captions. Learn simple tricks for making your cartoons look more 3-dimensional. By the end of the day you will have the tools and the experience to design, write and draw your own comic strip! Prerequisite(s): Grades 4-6
Instructor: Brent Eric Anderson
Brent Eric Anderson has been a professional cartoonist for over 28 years and has produced comic books, graphic novels, comic strips and computer animation. He has worked on many series including X-Men, Batman and the award winning Astro City and Spinworld. He teaches cartooning and comic storytelling for the Charles Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa.
