Cartooning for the Comics (Grades: 4-6)
Love cartooning and comics? Create your own cartoon character, then write and draw a sample comic book page or newspaper-style comic strip with a veteran comic book artist! Explore the basics of cartooning including creative layout, effective facial expressions and dynamic figure drawing. Discover the language of comics including basic comic strip story structure, placing text and images and adding captions. Learn simple tricks for making your cartoons look more 3-dimensional and take a special field trip to the Charles M. Schulz Museum. By the end of the week you will have the tools and the experience to design, write and draw your own comic strip! Parent drivers needed for a field trip.
