Summer 2009
Ceramics Studio (Grades: 5-8)
Come and spend a week exploring the world of ceramics, rolling, pinching, pounding, and wedging clay into all sorts of shapes and forms. Let your imagination run wild as you create masks, whistles, bowls, and other sculptural and functional pieces, as well as spending some time learning to throw on the potter's wheel. Explore ways to decorate your pieces with textures, carving and colorful underglazes and glazes. Be a part of the Raku firing at the end of the session and rise to the challenges as a team player on the Clay Olympics. Everything you make will be fired for you to take home. Please bring an apron and your imagination. Due to time restraints, some pieces may not be fired by the end of class. Please plan to pick up additional pieces the following week.
