Propaganda and the Media
Propaganda has become a way of life. This course will explore the varied and robust tradition of propaganda and efforts at mediated social control. From the Nazis of World War II to the influence of mass communication in the every day lives of individuals to conflicting messages about the Iraq War, Propaganda and the Media will explore the theoretical basis of propaganda and persuasion, analyze the most influential examples of propaganda (from newsreel footage to feature films)and enable students to decode propaganda in their daily lives. This course will give students an opportunity to enhance critical thinking,viewing and writing skills.
