Summer 2009

Veterinary Adventures (Grades: 4-6)

Have you ever thought about being a veterinarian? Discover what veterinarians do and why it is so rewarding from a vet with over 50 years of experience. Visit a specialty group of 15 animal doctors and learn about the amazing procedures they use to make sick and injured animals well, including a veterinary radiologist who will show you x-rays and describe imaging techniques. Learn about pet hazards and the diseases of man and animals such as dog bites, why vaccines produce immunity and how your food is protected by our veterinary inspectors. How do animals digest their food and how are their stomachs different from ours? On a field trip to a working sheep ranch, see sheep dogs in action, find out how lambs are born, sheep are shorn and feel and judge wool. Join in on this two week journey of animal care and repair. Parent drivers needed for field trips.
