Mad Scientist's Laboratory (Grades: 4-6)


Conduct a multitude of scientific experiments and explore the mysteries of all kinds of matter. Submerge your hands in oobleck- is it a solid or a liquid? Investigate the chemistry of acids, bases, and gases and test and predict the density of different materials. Experiment with chemical reactions and amaze your parents and friends with your own secret formulas made from everyday kitchen substances. Discover oozing volcanoes, smoking ice, irrational bubbles and mysterious liquids that pop, fizzle and snap.

Renee Stender, M.S., has been teaching grades 4-7 for the San Rafael City Schools for the last 14 years. She also teaches for the Bay Area Writers Project, various GATE programs and is a mentor teacher for her district.
