Introduction to Vineyard and Winery Accounting, Finance, and Tax


This course provides a practical approach to accounting and tax issues specific to the wine industry. Topics covered will include GAAP and tax treatment for vineyard development, depletions, wine inventory, and other areas relevant to vineyards and wineries. In addition, this course will include best practices for financial management, including forecasting, benchmarking and cash-flow planning. Some accounting and finance experience helpful, but not necessary.

Prerequisite(s):Elective course- applies toward Tasting Room Management Certificate

Combined, the instructors have over 30 years of experience advising vineyard and winery clients on accounting, tax and financial management issues. All are members of the Moss Adams LLP Wine Industry Services Group, which is headquartered in Santa Rosa, in the heart of Sonoma County. Moss Adams has offices throughout the West Coast wine regions, serving approximately 150 winery and vineyard clients, varying in size and entity structure.
