Summer 2009
Write On! Writer's Workshop (Grades: 7-9)
Do you love to write? Do you have a bookshelf or a closet full of journals? Do you want to try your hand at creative writing, but haven't had much opportunity? For one week, see what it feels like to take creative writing seriously and immerse yourself totally in your craft. Experiment with fiction, non-fiction, poetry and try your hand at songwriting. Lose the internal critic and let the fabulous writer inside come out to play. Learn tricks and tools of the trade that you can carry with you throughout your life. Paint and sculpt with language. Use it to transform your life experiences into stories, poems and songs. Become part of a writing group that is extremely supportive and incredibly fun. By the end of the week you'll have a portfolio filled with your own writing, along with unique writing techniques and ideas to keep you busy for a very long time.
