Build Your Own Computer Game (Grades: 6-9)
Build your own video game using Processing 1.0, a freely available programming environment. Design an interactive, graphic game using geometric shapes, pictures and awesome sound effects while learning the fundamentals of writing computer programs. Use logical rules, functions and variables to control your program and invent colorful animations which change over time and respond to input from the mouse and keyboard. Investigate the basics of computer graphics and the principles of game design. At the end of the class, you'll have designed and written your own computer game, which you can take home and play on any Macintosh or PC computer.

Andrew Korff B.A., is presently the Computer Lab Coordinator at McNear School in Petaluma, as well as teaching a class in Web Design at the Novato Public Library. He has provided computer training and support to Kaiser Permanente for two years and is fascinated by technology, the internet, and the ways in which they continue to shape our lives.
