Summer 2009Build Your Own Website (Grades: 7-9)Design your own website using HTML and CSS, the languages in which modern web pages are written. Discover the principles of web design as you create media-rich pages, complete with pictures, sound, and even movies. Create hyperlinks, embed images and link multiple web pages together. Learn about the history of the internet and explore the inner workings of the web. Using a basic text editor and a free web-hosting service, construct a website which you can share with your friends and can continue to change and add to after the course is completed. With these tools, the web becomes a dynamic canvas for self-expression. Prerequisite(s):

Andrew Korff B.A., is presently the Computer Lab Coordinator at McNear School in Petaluma, as well as teaching a class in Web Design at the Novato Public Library. He has provided computer training and support to Kaiser Permanente for two years and is fascinated by technology, the internet, and the ways in which they continue to shape our lives.
