Spring 2009Document Management & E-DiscoveryOne of the most common tasks assigned to legal assistants in a law office is organizing a file with a substantial number of documents. The key to effective document management is organization, whether a manual system or a computerized system is employed. This course covers manual document collection and production, analytical coding, both subjective and objective indexing and maintenance, as well as traditional deposition summarization techniques. Students receive hands-on experience with computerized litigation support, including deposition word searching and computerized summarization as well as bringing the power of the computer to bear on the organization and management of documents. CR/NC only (no grade option). Prerequisite(s): POLS 300, ENGL 300, and either POLS 322 or 332. Prior experience with computers or permission of instructor required.
