Summer 2010

Surviving the Classroom Paper Shuffle: How to Organize a Dynamic Classroom, Part I CANCELLED

As elementary teachers, we sometimes find that paperwork and organization of the work flow are overwhelming. Why spend hours after school and at home trying to get organized? This class introduces simple ways to organize yourself, your students and parent volunteers so you can spend more of your precious time teaching children. Discussion includes:

  • Five great ways to recruit and organize parent volunteers
  • Simple techniques that help students stay organized
  • Teaching students to be responsible for their own paperwork
  • Deciding what to correct...and what not to
  • A simple, effective filing system that saves time and energy
  • Time saving ideas for recording grades
  • Communicating with parents--how and when
  • Great classroom management strategies
  • Organizing essential standard materials

You leave this interactive workshop with samples and handouts you can put to work in your classroom tomorrow! On day two, please bring a project or unit to organize and your best ideas; there are work sessions throughout the course. This class is geared for all elementary grades.
