Summer 2009Clay Studio (Grades: 4-6) Session III AMCome and spend a week exploring the world of ceramics, rolling, pinching, pounding, and wedging clay into all sorts of shapes and forms. Let your imagination run wild as you design fanciful and functional creations using a variety of hand building methods. The possibilities are endless; from monsters to masks, bowls to cups. Imagine a giraffe with a lizard tail and rabbit ears or a bowl with the legs of a frog. Whistles, rattles and "drums" can add a bit of music to your collection. Explore ways to decorate your pieces with texture, carving, modeling and colorful glazes. Rise to the challenges as a team player on the Clay Olympics. Please bring an apron or old clothes and a towel or two for clean-up. Due to time restraints, some pieces may not be fired by the end of class. Please plan to pick up additional pieces the following week. Prerequisite(s): (Grades: 4-6)
