Summer 2010
Writer's Workshop (Grades 7-9)
Are you a part-time poet, a novel writer on the sly? Do you have journals crowding the bookshelf or sci-fi filling your computer? Then it's time to experience what it is like to be a full-fledged writer. For one week you and your fellow students do what writers do-- immerse yourself in your craft. Try your hand at fiction, poetry, songwriting and screenwriting. Experiment with memorable characters, dramatic settings and snappy dialog. Turn that mood into a blues song, or a past argument into a comic scene. Mold, sculpt and play with language. Nurture your unique writer's voice and take home a portfolio of your own personal prose and writing techniques you can use again and again.
