Summer 2009
Word Wizardry: The Craft of Writing (Grades 4-6)
Ever read the first paragraph of a book and then get hooked? You too, can impress your readers with brilliant opening lines. Spend two weeks immersing yourself in the craft of writing and learn to express yourself with style and pizzazz. Find your own unique writers "voice" and experiment with humor, mystery and drama. Explore what makes us love or hate a character, what makes a story funny, why a setting inspires and then wrap it all up with amazing endings that leave the reader wanting more. Discover how to write a fascinating autobiography, one that truly shows who you are. Then add photos and personal anecdotes and publish it using Power Point in the SSU computer lab.
